The first “factory of ideas” hosts the projects that are part of the series that Vision has started a couple of years ago on “The Rise of the Information Society”. The series is divided by sectors and analyzes the improvements technologies can bring about but also the organizational and institutional changes necessary for such improvements to happen.
The first project is about the impact of technologies on the way health is provided in developed societies, healthcare services are delivered and healthcare systems are organized. The research has produced a book (“The Return of the Net”) and two seminars at the Health Commission of the Italian Senate. The first was dedicated to the quality of the information on health on the internet; the second was dedicated to the ratio between quality, cost and competitive capacity of health systems of different Countries.
The second project “The machine that changed the World” analyzes the effects of ICT and of Internet on vehicles and on the future of the transportation system. The book, containing the most interesting results of the research, will soon arrive at the bookshops (Fazi - February 2004).
Vision has just recently started the third and last research on how information and communication technologies have revolutionized the very concept of security and the processes and organizations by which security is delivered. The project called Internet vs. Internet will be concluded by 2005.
